The client
Cypress is an IT recruiting and staffing firm that helps companies find and hire technical talent. I produced this video in partnership with a marketing agency.
The challenge
The concept and script were already written: a simple before-and-after story. “You Today” is losing candidates and leaving roles open for months. “Future You” has partnered with Cypress and is outpacing the market. My job was to turn that script into a video that could stop someone mid-scroll on LinkedIn and deliver the whole message in under a minute, often with the sound off.
The solution
I brought the concept to life in After Effects with bold kinetic typography and split-screen transitions. The split screen does the storytelling, putting “You Today” and “Future You” side by side so the contrast registers instantly, even for someone who only catches a few seconds.
Cypress’s red and navy brand colors carry every frame, keeping the video recognizable in a busy feed. The type is large, punchy, and paced to be read, so the message lands whether or not the viewer turns on the audio. At 42 seconds, the video is short enough to hold attention on social media and long enough to make the case.
The result
The video ran as a digital campaign on social media, primarily LinkedIn, where Cypress’s B2B audience spends its time, and also on Facebook. It gave the firm a clear, on-brand way to show hiring managers the cost of doing nothing and the value of making a change.
