The client
MITEY Change is a motivational interviewing training program from Possibilities for Change, a youth mental health nonprofit I’ve worked with since 2016. It teaches educators, counselors, clinicians, and youth advocates how to guide teens toward healthier choices without judgment. The name stands for Motivational Interviewing Training for Empowering Youth (towards) Change, and it’s also a play on “mighty.”
The logo
The concept was mine. A lightbulb represents the knowledge and learning at the heart of the training. Inside it, an open palm lifts a group of figures, representing the professionals who support and raise up the youth they serve. I paired it with a heavy wordmark in green and blue so the name feels as strong as it sounds.
The online course
Beyond the logo, I built the entire MITEY Change online course. It’s a self-paced program of 13 modules covering topics from youth development and behavior change to handling resistant youth and confidentiality. Participants can access it 24/7 and earn continuing education credits.
To keep adult learners engaged through a full course, I built it in Adobe Captivate with a 3D animated avatar as the instructor. Informational slides are broken up with quizzes, knowledge checks, and interactive activities, so participants practice skills instead of just reading about them. The finished course is hosted on Teachable.
The result
MITEY Change has a memorable brand and a polished, on-demand course that organizations can use for year-round staff training. According to Possibilities for Change, 92% of participants say they’ll use the skills when coaching youth, and 88% report significant gains in confidence.
