The client
Mountain Pass Solutions makes SmartPath, a faculty affairs platform for colleges and universities. I’ve worked with them since 2018, including a redesign of their website.
The challenge
SmartPath is built around four core processes, and Workflow is one of them. Explaining how software works is hard enough, but Mountain Pass prefers not to show its software in screenshots. That meant the sales materials had to explain the product clearly without the most obvious visual aid. For each of the four processes, I designed a PDF document and a video to do that work for the sales team.
The solution
Working from a provided script, I storyboarded and animated the video in After Effects. Motion graphics explain what Workflow automates and why it matters, turning an abstract software process into a clear visual story. I sourced stock footage to show the people behind the process, keeping the focus on the university staff who benefit instead of the interface.
To prove the results, the video includes a testimonial from Geisinger College of Health Sciences. I edited the interview in Premiere Pro, cutting it down to the moments that best show the real-world impact on a SmartPath customer.
The result
The video is a key sales tool, helping prospects understand SmartPath Workflow before they ever see a demo. The client loved it and approved three more videos in the same style, one for each of SmartPath’s other core processes, completing a consistent explainer series alongside the matching PDF documents.
